I have been thinking recently that I really need to get back into my fine arts. I've been distanced from this part of me, which I consider very important to who I am and what makes me happy. Somehow I've lost track of it, and I realize it's just a matter of doing it. So, I'm gonna try to make a goal to start painting and drawing on a regular basis again. I'm also hoping that by posting this it'll help keep me honest with myself.
And, you know those ads on the sides of websites, which you normally ignore? Well, in this case, I saw this ad for a 'modern' camera obscura, called the Premium Camera Lucida, to use for drawing, and had to see what it was all about. It's basically a great tool to use so that you can accurately outline the subject matter in which you will draw or paint. Yes, in art class, I have been taught different techniques, such as the grid or measuring with your drawing or painting tool, but heck this is so much easier, and you still are using artistic license! I want this!! I would love to use this with portraits, which are my subject matter of choice.
